Ford Mustang Engine Disassembled

We have now disassembled the 5.0L engine down to the bare vengine block. See pictue below. In the first picture, we have removed the cylinder heads, water pump, front timing cover and timing chain, intake manifold and all the engine brackets.

The second picture shows the removal of the piston and rod assemblies. The engine is turned over on the stand, oil pan removed to gain access to the bottom end of the engine showing the crankshaft.

Bottom end. Engine is turned over to view the crankshaft still installed with the main and rod bearing caps installed. We will first remove the rod bearing caps and slide the piston and rod assemblies out though the top of the motor. We can do this because the cylinder heads have been removed.
