GMC Sonoma Coolant And Fuel Leaks

Question:
My '01 Sonoma V6 is leaking coolant. I have looked and I cannot find where the leak is coming from. It appears to be leaking down the back of the engine. Any suggestions on where to look?

Answer:
A common area of coolant leak on the back of the 4.3L engine is the lower intake manifold gaskets. From under the truck you can follow the trail of coolant up to where the lower intake manifold meets the cylinder head. Coolant residue may be visible and the starter as well. You can also lay on top of the engine (not running)and look as far back as you can to determine if in fact that is where the leak is coming from. Best way is to have the cooling system pressure tested by a professional.

Question:
2003 GMC Sonoma 2.2L.
I replaced gas cap. The truck smells like raw fuel fumes after being driven. There is no apparent fuel leak in the engine compartment, gas tank, tank neck and/or fuel line. There aren't any fuel drops or puddles under the vehicle either. No smell in the cab or engine compartment but very strong smell coming from under the truck bed.

The computer would light up the check engine; if the evap canister had a leak or if the purge valve was not working, but there aren't any warning lights on and the engine has been working fine. What could be causing the fuel smell?

Answer:
A strong smell like that would not be from an EVAP system leak, just as you said. You must have a fuel leak. It is probably one of the fuel lines on top of the tank. It would puddle up on top and will never leak down, unless it was real bad. It most likely evaporates before running down the side of the gas tank. Sounds like you are going to have to drop the tank.
