Ford F-250 Won't Start- A/C Compressor Locked Up

Question:
I have fuel going through the fuel rail the engine turns over but wont start i spray starting fluid and the truck starts but as soon as i push on the gas pedal it dies i cant get the truck to start on its own. 1991 Ford F-250. Engine size: 351 Windsor V8. New fuel pump hooked fuel pump up directly because no power to the pump.

Answer:
David,While it is always tempting to work around a problem instead of fixing it I have to say it isn't a good idea. Your original problem with the fuel pump was probably the relay. Identifying that will still be easy by checking for voltage at the relay connector. It should have 4 connectors there will be a 12v supply to the coil windings and then a ground for the coil windings. If you have those they relay should click when you flip the key on. If have those and the relay doesn't click or you can't here it check for 12v out of the relay. If you don't have 12volts out check for 12 volts into the switch contacts. No 12 volts out =bad relay if 12 volts in is present on two pins of the connector.

If you don't have 12 volts into the relay check your fuses and fusible links. You can also just swap the relay with on of the same in the fuse box, remembering that what ever that relay controls will be disabled when you remove the relay. Once you get that straightened out and back the way it should work check the fuel pressure at the connector on the fuel rail. If thats not right check the filter and fuel pressure regulator.

If it is right then you will need to check for voltage going to your fuel injectors when your turning the motor over. Put an analog meter on a/c and check the connector that goes to one of your fuel injectors. You should read 2.5 volts. If you don't you have something wrong in the harness, or a bad ground there could be a problem with the ECU which should reflect in a check engine light. Or use a test with the injector unplugged to see if it flashes. The ECU controls the ground side. If all of that checks out good it is possible you have 8 bad fuel injectors but it is highly unlikely.

Question:
My belt broke about 2 days ago and i replace with a new one..I drive about 2 miles and popped my hood and notice that my belt was smoking...I touch my AC compressor and notice that it was very very hot..The guy at the auto part store says the clutch as locked up in the compressor..Is it away around that without replacing the compressor. I cant really do that repair myself. Ford Crown Vic. Replaced Serpentine Belt Twice and the number 6 fuse twice.

Answer:
There are a few companies that make a conversion kit to go from an engine with A/C, to one without. This depends if a non-A/C engine was even offered from the factory. Being a Crown Victoria, i doubt that there was an option from the factory to have this engine without A/C. Now if it was a F-150 or focus, that might be the case. So i do not think there is a way for you to do what your are asking.
