Ford exhaust manifold leak - no power
Would an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold to cylinder head conjucntion cause an excessive loss of power upon acceleration?
Re: Ford exhaust manifold leak - no power
No, an exhaust leak would not cause a bad loss of power. It will cause of course a noise and can effect the reading of the oxygen sensor on that side. That can effect fuel delivery, but would not cause an extreme loss of power.

Thanks Scotty, I think I found the source, open vaccum port on intake manifold, however, still misfiring.
Re: Ford exhaust manifold leak - no power
A vacuum leak would not cause a loss of power. That will just give you a rough or high idle.
If the engine is misfiring, check the basics.
A bad spark plug.
Plug wire.
Ignition coil.
Cap and rotor (depending on year).
Low fuel pressure.

2005 Explorer running loud
Recently my truck's been running unusually loud when driving, most noticable when coasting after taking my foot off the pedal and on the highway. It idles normally and seems like it shifts fine (auto). There is also a slight vibration in the gas pedal I didn't notice before, but could be unrelated. There's only 60K miles on it, the check engine light is pulling an EVAP code, but other than that my mechanic say everything appears to be fine when he checked it out. Just had an oil change, fluids are fine, new air filter. Should I have the spark plugs changed or a tune up, could it be something else? I can't spend too much $$ on this problem but I know something's wrong. What else should I have checked out? Thanks.
Re: 2005 Explorer running loud
Could be something like an exhaust leak, or related exhaust problem. Those are most noticeable when letting off gas usually, such as a bad baffle in a muffler, or a catalytic converter coming apart internally.
Possibly other drivetrain related problems such as a transmission noise, hub bearing, bad tire, etc. Quite a lot of possibilities. I'd recommend having your mechanic drive it with you so you can point out the noise as it happens. He might be able to pinpoint a bit better that way.

starting problem
1999 lincoln navigator having problems starting in cold weather
Re: starting problem
what kind of problem are you having in your starting? Just get one click when you turn the key to start? (bad starter relay) (bad starter solenoid) Get a series of clicks? (low battery) Starter cranks over but doesn't start? (Check for spark, fuel pressure and injector pulse) Cranks over but takes a while before it will start? (check if your area uses oxygenated fuel in the winter time)

Re: Ford Explorer Anti-theft problem
have you tried to open the door with the key and then turning on the ignition? (bypasses the key fob to turn off the alarm)
