Chevy HHR Traction Control ABS Lights
Chevy HHR Random Misfire Code and Rough Idle
Have 2007 HHR with Random misfire code, but if hooked to scanner while car running the misfire is racking up in cylinder#2 Spark plugs have been replaced and coils be replaced injecters have been switched. What could be wrong?
Re: Chevy HHR Random Misfire Code and Rough Idle
First be sure to check for a vacuum leak.
But, this sounds like a compression problem.
The 4 cyl has problems with carbon getting on the valves.
The carbon will hold valve (s) slightly open. Usually only effects at idle. Some times it is severe enough to cause damage to the valve seat.
Do a compression check on all cylinders. You may find #2 lower than the others. This would indicate the carbon problem.
You can try to have a de-carbon service done. This has about a 50% chance of helping. Do a de-carbon service and then drive it on the highway and "Blow it out" a few times.
If this does not work, removal of the head would be next. Theses heads are not repairable, so if damage to the seats, the head would have to be replaced.
If this is the case, removal of the cylinder head would be covered under the GM 5 year, 100k miles powertrain warranty.

Question = purchased a 2009 hhr that had drivers side air bag deployed...changed clockspring, modules, seatbelts, and airbags, now the airbag light is on and flashing do i need to take it to dealer to have them clear code and reset? or could there be another problem?

Re: 2009 Airbag Light flashing
If all these parts have been replaced, along with the control module, and the light is blinking. you have one of two problems.Helda wrote:Problem with my = 2009 Chevy HHR.

Either the module was not programmed, or there is still a problem somewhere in the vehicle.
If the crash was bad enough, there may be a broken wire to a front end sensor.
A scan of the Airbag module for codes is needed to determine what circuit has a problem.
Re: Chevy HHR Traction Control ABS Lights
This light or indicator on the dash or message center is usually related to the ABS system, and sometimes to the check engine light. When this is on, the Traction system is disabled. A problem in the ABS system is usually the cause but not always, and would have to be scanned for codes. The codes that keep getting cleared are an indication as to what circuit is faulty. Possibilities are a wheel speed sensor, wiring to a sensor, internal module problem, etc. Not sure why they keep clearing the code / light without diagnosing the problem.
