location of speed sensor
location of speed sensor
is there a vehicle speed sensor on the engine of a 3800 pontiac bonneville..i know theres one on the transmission.
Re: location of speed sensor
there is no vehicle speed sensor on the engine. There is an engine speed sensor (crankshaft sensor) for rpm readings.
why are you looking for the vehicle speed sensor? or for another vss?

Re: location of speed sensor
At 2200 rpm my speedo shows 134 mph. I replaced the vss on the trans didn't fix it
Re: location of speed sensor
what year is your bonneville?
so, how fast do you think you are going at 2200 rpm? Do you think you could be doing 83 miles per hour? That would be what 134 KPH would be in MPH. some cars have switch to change from miles to kilometers. 100kph is about 62 mph.
you should drive your vehicle with a scanner hooked up and look at your vehicle speed and see if it matches up to your dash reading. It could be that your dash stepper motor is not working correctly. The scanner will give you the speed that the computer is getting form the speed sensor. Then you could see if the dash matches the computer. It is not uncommon for any of the needle gauges to have the stepper motor go bad and either read wrong or get stuck and loose their zero point.
