Cadillac Catera Oil Light, Low Coolant And Flashing SES

Question:
I have a 1998 Cadillac Catera and have been having issues with oil pressure normally its borderline bad but today i had it drop into the red at a stop sign.. So what i am wondering is would it be possible for it to just be a bad ECT? The weird part is when its first started in the morning it is near 80 when accelerating until it gets warm. Now I'm stumped.

I was at first thinking possibly a oil pressure sensor but when it got low the motor made some noise so it def had low oil pressure. Do you think a engine coolant temperature sensor could be the problem or is it something bigger? It might have 2 ECT so not sure im guessing one to the pcm and one to the gauge never goes past 3/4 and the fan does come on its just weird it got worse as the weather got warmer.... Any ideas?

Answer:
An engine coolant temperature sensor would not be the cause of this. If the oil pressure is low, and the engine oil level was low, and there was engine noise, i would say you have an internal oil pressure problem. Going to have to get the oil pressure checked with a gauge. Low pressure hot is usually a bearing problem.

Question:
I recently replaced valve cover gaskets and when I started the car it drove no faster than 10 mph. Looking for a solution to fix this problem. 2001 Cadillac Catera. Check engine is flashing. Replaced Water pump. Fuel filter. Valve cover gaskets coils. New plugs oil change.

Answer:
There should be no correlation with doing valve cover gaskets and then not being able to go over 10 mph. That is, unless some went wrong during the repair. If a gasket isn't seated properly, or something was left loose or off, there could be a vacuum leak and that would affect driving. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere for the problem.

Possibly the PCV line was left off or missing? Check any and all o-ring seals are in place, too. You mention in your info that the check engine light is flashing which usually means that a misfire on one or more cylinders is happening. If it's not being caused by a vacuum leak, you have either an ignition problem, fuel problem or low/no compression due to a valvetrain problem.
