2007 silverado starting problem
2007 silverado starting problem
Heres my problem. Most of the time when I try to start my truck it. Wont turn over. If I leave the key on the head lights flash and click. This will go on anywhere from 5 minutes to over an hour. Then the door looks will click the headlights stop flashing and the dome light comes on. Then it will start up?? I was also able to remove the key from the ignition while it was running.. The dealer thought it was a ignition problem and sold me a new ignition switch, a key lock cylinder and a case. I installed them last nite and I still have the same problem.... any ideas?? Thanks, Chad
Re: 2007 silverado starting problem
After you installed the new ignition cylinder and housing, a theft re-learn procedure would need to be done to get the truck started properly. Did you do that? Otherwise it won't start and you could think you still have the same problem.

I did the 30 minute relearn.
Re: 2007 silverado starting problem
Well, you'd really need to get it scanned and see if the theft deterrent did in fact learn when you did the 30 minute procedure. Sometimes it doesn't take and will get stuck in learn mode. Otherwise, if that isn't the issue you're going to need to do some more diagnosis on the truck (wiring, modules, computer checks, etc) to actually find the problem. This would be best done at the dealership since they will the required special tools for this.

Re: 2007 silverado starting problem
They say its a bad body control module. No communication to the module..
Re: 2007 silverado starting problem
That is very well possible, as a BCM controls the ignition and theft deterrent. If it's faulty, it can cause all kinds of odd electrical issues as well as starting problems.
