The pop you heard was a fuse that blew. You need to check all your fuses. Since you heard it while under the hood of your Pontiac, then one or more must have blown in the under hood fuse block. Check all those, and for good measure, check the in car fuse box as well.

Since the fuel pump will not pump and no spark, you might have blown more that one. Look for fuses labled "Fuel- " or "Emissions -".

OK. So you replaced the crank sensor behind the crank pulley.
Engine has No Spark.
Do you have proper fuel pressure?

You need to find out if you have fuel injector pulse. If you do not have spark AND injector pulse, then it is not the ignition module.

If you have injector pulse but NO spark, then yes, most likely the ignition module.
Maybe the pop was just a coincidense? Or You may have blown the computer when you heard the pop when trying to jumper the relay.

You need to get a scanner that can read engine data to see if there is RPM when cranking.

Is the theft / security light on the dash?

The crank sensor between the block and the transmission is the 7x, the one behind the crank pulley is the 24x crank sensor.

To check for injector pulse, either use a Noid light, or a test light. The injectors should always have power, then the PCM grounds them, so the light will flash.

Yes, you do have a factory theft system. Turn key on, look for a picture of a lock or the word theft or security to come on then go off. If it stays on after cranking and then releasing the key, you have a problem.

You have a chip in the key right?
