1996 Cougar electrical problems

when do the headlights flicker? The trunk release does have a relay in the trunk. Right rear of trunk lid according to book. There is a seat & lock circuit breaker in the primary junction block

Will brake fluid in the vacuum booster deteriorate the booster diaphragm? Can the fluid be cleaned out thoroughly enough to prevent any damage? Is it necessary to replace the booster?

brake fluid generally will not damage the diaphragm of the booster. It may damage the metal in the booster. One of the reasons they use brake fluid in brakes is that it won't damage the rubber in the brake system. (well, that and the higher boiling temp) But, brake fluid is hygroscopic, in that it attracts and absorbs water. So things will start to rust up and get corroded. Just get out what you can.

Don't you think it might be grounding problem? If it does remove both cables from battery and clean the ends and the battery, and have it reinstall properly.
