2001 chevy cavalier
We changed the engine in my 2001 chevy cavalier with an exact fit engine. The car runs perfect however the anti-theft light in the dash is on and none of the gauges work. We had it plugged into a gm scanner and none of the modules are bad it is just showing no juice to the dash. The gm dealer says that we now need a new dash cluster. I don't understand how changing an engine can ruin a perfectly good dash.
Re: 2001 chevy cavalier
The theft system and the gauges are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). This could be your problem. But if the dealerTech says the cluster is bad, then i would have to agree. Sounds like just coincidense, or possibly the disconnecting and reconnecting of the battery caused a spike that took out the cluster.
