Engine stalls while driving .

Unread post by muskihunter » Tue Jul 08, 2014 2:57 am

The engine stalls while driving. It don't give any warning, it just quits. But it will start right back up. Then it'll run a while then it will do it again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This depends on which model Oldsmobile you have and what engine size. There are common things for different engines. For instance, on the 3800 engine, a crank position sensor is a common problem. They tend to fail when the engine gets hot. Then when it cools down a bit, it will start and run for a while longer. The 3.1L oir 3.4L engine is more common for a bad ignition control module going bad. With that said, any car can have a fuel pump act like the problem you are having.

You would need to find out what is missing when it stalls. Is the engine missing spark, fuel pressure or fuel injector pulse or a combination. That would give a battery indication as to what the problem is.
