Over heat is bad enough but overheat and stall is real bad.

you'll have to tell me, How hot did it get? and was it overheated and you kept driving when it stalled?

Some vehicles have a computer setting that will shut down the engine if it gets too hot. Some other cars will let the engine overheat until the engine loses integrity and fails. One easy way to tell what you might have is after the engine cools down, does it restart. If it doesn't restart after it has cooled down, how does the engine sound while you are cranking the engine over. Does it sound just like it normally sound when you try to start it? Or, does it sound like the starter is spinning too easy? You may have blown the head gasket and the compression in now too low.

if the engine starts now, try to find out what the overheating problem is. Check the coolant level. Check the engine oil level and color. When the engine temp gets up to 3/4 on the gauge do the cooling fans come on?
