oil pan replacement on Saturn Vue

Unread post by michcooper » Tue May 14, 2013 1:28 pm

I have a 2004 saturn vue. Jiffy Lube stripped my oil plug and put in a larger one to temporarily fix the problem. The last time i got it changed they put in a even larger one because of leaking and they said it had been stripped. They said that the next time I got the oil changed I would need a new oil pan-Is there any other fix other than a new oil pan?

Not if the oil drain plug hole has been stripped beyond repair, which is sure sounds like it has! Bigger plugs, and other so called 'fixes' for it usually don't last. It seems like you will be needing to get the pan replaced.

You might want to see if you have any recourse with Jiffy Lube since they seem to have admitted stripping it in the first place. They should pay for the repair, or at least help you out.

We see plenty of work sent to us from oil change shops, after they've messed something up. You have to remember, it's just kids working at those places. You might want to get your oil changed by a more qualified person.
