Stupid question - when changing the turn signal bulbs on a 1978 Dodge B200 van, what is the difference (if any) between an 1157 and a 1016 bulb?

1157, 1034, 198, 1016, 2057 all fit the same socket and will work (usually, dual element, dim and bright) but they have slightly different brightness, length of life, different filament material, wattage... they are all very specific. You'd have to get very technical to find out which one is best for any application. Just go with what the OE application calls for unless they are no longer available...

NAPA shows 1157 amber for front turn bulbs but it shows 198 for tail lights
