My alarm will arm (horn sounds once, security light on info center is lit), but if a door is opened the alarm does not sound. (I roll down the window, get out of the car, hit the arm/lock button on fob, then reach in and open the door - no honking or flashing lights).
A couple of days ago, someone tried to steal my car and pulled some wires down from under the dash and I had that reconnected by a mechanic.
Where or what is the sensor that sets off the alarm when a door is opened when the alarm is armed?
Any suggestions?

Re: 2001 Dodge Durango Factory Alarm
the alarm goes off the power door lock motor/ajar switch in each door and the cylinder lock switches.

Re: 2001 Dodge Durango Factory Alarm
Thank you. The door ajar light still comes on if I open the door. Does this mean it's probably the lock cylinder switch and not the power door lock motor? (I'm trying to narrow it down).
Re: 2001 Dodge Durango Factory Alarm
do you have gray ignition keys or black keys? Gray have a chip in the key, black does not (factory keys)
when security is activated the security light will flash rapidly for 15 seconds the flash at a slower rate afterwards. If security does not flash it is not arming.
you should have your vehicle scanned for anti-theft related DTC's
