Ignition cylinder assembly removal

Unread post by Triplet » Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:15 am

Hello I have a high security assembly that I'm attempting to remove from my Honda Ridgeline it has two ball screws that you have to remove in order to get the entire assembly off so it can be replaced. I was hoping that you had a tool or technique that I could use to remove them other than the hammer and chisel. Thanks

what year is your ridgeline? are you talking about the screws that hold the cylinder around the steering column?

depending on how much access you have to get at the screws ( how much you remove to access the screws) you can use a hacksaw blade holder and saw a slot in the top of the bolt and use a screwdriver to turn the screws.

if you lower the column low enough to get a drill in you can drill out the heads of the screws. the screws are pretty soft so they aren't hard to get out.

they are left hand thread so a regular drill bit might back out the screws as you are drilling.

are these the screws you are trying to remove?
