steering wheel hard to turn

The steering wheel is hard to turn when the car is cold and loosens when you turn the steering wheel fully a few times. It also squeaks when turning the steering wheel fully. I have flushed the power steering fluid and remove all air from the system.

If this was a GM I would say check the rack and pinion unit for being worn. But for a Toyoya I would look at the power steering pump and reservoir. If the reservoir has a screen see if it is getting plugged up. Then I would check the pressure of the pump. It would be something you would hook one day and leave it overnight. Check the pressure from when it is dead cold and see if the pressure improves as the pump warms up. I don't know how you would check this without a power steering pressure gauge set up
