Chewing up starters
Recently replaced the trans in my 80 Ford f100 Ranger. 351w c6 trans. Started eating up starters,so I changed the flexplate and starter and it is still eating them up after only 10 cranks tops.Does it need to be shimmed or is there a deeper problem?
Re: Chewing up starters
Need a better description of what your problem is. What do you mean when you say it's eating up starters? does the starter gear get worn as in metal shavings all over the place? 10 cranks, is that ten times starting the engine or is that ten revolutions of the engine?
does your truck have the plate between the engine and transmission in?
