Ford ranger fuse blowing
2005 Ford Explorer 4.6 V8 wont stay running
truck will start but will not run can anyone help me
Re: 2005 Ford Explorer 4.6 V8
After your truck starts, how long does is run until it stalls out?
When it dies, does it shake then die or just shut right off?
Is the theft / security light on ?

Re: 2000 ford ranger 4Wd
you should talk to a local wrecking yard for parts interchange. you should have information like engine size, automatic or manual trans, what trans do you have now, Auto: 4r44e, 4r55e, 5r44e, 5r55e and Manual: M5od, R1, R1, R4

2001 Ford Ranger shut off while driving
I tried accelerating and it shut off and all the lights on the dashboard came on. I lost power steering too, which I assume is because it turned off. I replaced the alternator 2 years ago so I don't think it's that.. I pulled over to the side of the road and waited a few minutes and it started back up but then the same thing just happened.
Re: 2001 Ford Ranger shut off while driving
O2 sensor could cause a problem like this. restricted exhaust too. If it starts back up in a few minutes or even cranks over the alternator is probably not the problem. If you lost enough power at the battery for the engine to die there won't be enough to crank the engine.
Fuel pressure, exhaust pressure, coolant temp, fuel regulator, coils, shorted injector, oxygen sensor, cam and crank and more things can cause it to stall. try to get a scanner hooked up to and see what your engine is doing just before it shuts down. look at your fuel trims, O2 sensor, cts are all doing just before it dies.

Ford ranger fuse blowing
I am working on a 2002 Ford Ranger. What is wrong when the fuse blows every time you put vehicle in drive?
Re: Ford ranger fuse blowing
what fuse blows?
there is a short to ground somewhere. once you know what circuit is affected then you can trace the wiring to find where the short might be located. If it happens when you put it in drive look for place where the wire harness would rub on the motor, trans or a mount when the torque of the motor in gear will pull on the wire harness.

Re: Ford ranger fuse blowing
I had the same problem blowing fuses and it ended up being the reverse switch in the transmission just reach under and on the transmission is a reverse swithch un plug it and replace the fuse and if it doesnt blow you need a new reverse switch.
Fuel pump
I have a Ford Ranger 94 when you go to start it it turns over and all but to get it running I pump the heck out of the gas pedal then it will start then dies then I finally got it going I was about 45mph sputtered so I pump the gas pedal then it dies when I'm driving it's not electronic failure seems to be not getting the gas it needs what is causing this problem
Re: Fuel pump
what engine does your Ranger have? 2.3, 3.0, 4.0?
on start up with fuel injection, pumping the pedal doesn't do anything. Holding the pedal to the floor will shut off the fuel injectors. Holding the gas pedal open a little bit will give it a little more air and the computer will give you a little more fuel to compensate when the computer is working normally.
it sounds like you may have a working fuel pump but your fuel pressure is low. Pump not working good enough. If you are having a hard time starting, cycle the key on two or three times. This will turn the fuel pump on two or three times and build up fuel pressure. then it will be more likely to start.
If you use more gas than your fuel pump can put out the engine will stall. Pumping the pedal or just putting the pedal down more will just make it worse if you are running out of fuel. Letting off the gas pedal will make you go slower but it will allow the fuel pressure catch up so you can go some more.
Your engine has a port an the fuel rail to measure the rail pressure. you should find someone that can measure the pressure and see if that is your problem.
3.0L key on engine off 35-45psi
2.3L HSC MFI running 45-60psi, KOEO 50-60psi
4.0L comes under all others, running 35-45psi, KOEO 35-45psi
