starting problems f 250 super duty 7.3 deisel

Unread post by johnsautos » Thu May 16, 2013 2:43 pm

My truck has always started after a few seconds after the (the wait to start light goes out) and I crank the starter. Just the other day I tried to start my truck and I turned the key and as usual I waited for the (light) to go out and cranked it and it didn't start in the time it usually does. I tried it again and it took two times as long as it usually does. Now it does it all the time. What could it be????

Fuel quality, glow plugs worn, other wiring or electrical issues, etc. You might have to rack it up to it just being the way it is. As long as it does start and there is no other warning lights on, you're good to go. A couple seconds extra to start the truck is really no big deal. There is probably nothing wrong with it.

2002 f-250 will not start

Unread post by sfornof1 » Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:26 am

i turn the ignition on and hear nothing but relays popping and no crank. i turned the ignition and held it on for about a minute and heard the relays popping and saw some idiot lights flicker and it actually cranked and started for a brief second then died. the battery has been tested , i've replaced starter relay and ignition fuses-nothing. this is a 2002 ford f-250

first thing is check your starter relay. it's in the central junction box behind left lower side of the dash. switch it with another relay that is the same and see if the starter runs then.

Hey,

We have a 1995 Ford truck F-250 4x4 351 5.8l engine. it died as we were driving. when we tried to restart it either wouldn't or it ran for a minute or two and was extremely rough before dying again.
Any ideas?

I'd check for the correct fuel pressure first.
