Re: Ford f150 engine problem

Re: Ford f150 engine problem
No took heads off to remove plugs. I have tore it back down to the block and still wont turn
Re: Ford f150 engine problem
I can't think of any reason that a crank could turn in a short block and then not be able to turn. have you done anything with the crank or the connecting rods? new bearings? did everything spec out within clearance spec?
what are you using to rotate the crank?
what are you using to rotate the crank?

Re: Ford f150 engine problem
you may have to take the bottom off and look for a problem. you may have to disconnect the connecting rods and push the pistons up and away from the crank to see if you have a piston stuck. if they all move away from the crank then see if the crank rotates. If the crank still won't turn loosen the main bearing one at a time and see if it turns after each loosening. somewhere it should be able to turn.
Re: Ford f150 transmission
I was going in reverse and transmission act like it popped out of gear now I have no reverse.What do you think it could be? I do have all forward gears
Re: Ford f150 engine problem
@Fred you should have a transmission shop look at your truck. they should have a scanner that can look at the trans and see what it's doing. If you truck has a computer controlled trans.

Re: Ford f150 engine problem
I have tried what u you suggested with the bottom end of the motor unbolted all 8 pistons from the crank then and removed all five of the main bearing caps and send them back in and moved the crankshaft down a little bit and still cannot turn the engine even remote driveshafts thinking that might cause it
Re: Ford f150 engine problem
I don't understand "remote driveshafts" are you saying remove crank shaft?
OK, lets start back a little ways. Is the engine in or out of the vehicle? And the heads are off the engine correct? When you say the engine wont turn, you mean you are trying to turn the crank by hand with the heads still off the engine.
you have unbolted the connecting rods that attach the pistons to the crank and none of the pistons seem frozen in the bore. (they can move) but the crank still won't move?
Is the truck an automatic or manual trans? If it is automatic, unbolt the flex plate and see if the flex plate can turn. If the engine is out of the vehicle then you don't have to worry about this. If it's manual trans, it is in neutral right?
Just trying to think of all the options here.

spark plug problem
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 4 wheel drive. What can cause a spark plug to get loose and get damaged?
Re: spark plug problem
usually a spark plug coming loose is because it was not tightened up correctly.
making sure the plug is not cross threaded and screwed all the way in and torqued to the correct ft/lb.
2.3L= 9 ft/lb
3.0l= 11ft/lb
4.0l= 13ft/lb
make sure the plug threads and the threads in the head are clean before installing
