I feel like I'm being ripped off
Just paid $3600.00+ to have my transmission replaced and now the there is a leak from the transfer case. The mechanic told me it has nothing to do with replacing the transmission on a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT. Is this true or not? There was no leak prior to me having the transmission work done.

That depends on where the leak is. The transfer case needs to be removed the get the transmission out. If the leak is between the transfer case and transmission, yes, it could be something he did duing the repair. Cut a gasket, damaged a seal, etc.
If the leak is at the rear of the transfer case, then the removal of the rear driveshaft could have caused the rear seal to leak. Either way, during the repair of the transmission, something was disturbed causing the transfer case to leak, so they should take care of it at no cost to you. Expecially after spending $3600 !
