Ford 2002 Windstar Dash Light

Unread post by Malaria » Sat Jun 19, 2010 6:50 pm

The dash lights for the Information on my dash can't be read. I assume the bulb(s) is (are) burnt out. How do I remove the dash?

Dont think the bulbs can be replaced if you mean the information center. The unit needs to be replaced.
If you mean the lighting for the gauges, then yes, you can remove the gauge cluster and take it apart to replace the bulbs. If there is no lighting for other things like the radio, lock or window switches, etc, then you have a problem int he interior lights diming circuit.

Right, then, the information center. So that is like a plug in module in the back of the dash? How do I remove the dash to get to it? I appreciate any advice.

You will need to remove the entire trim around that part of the dash.
A Chilton manula or similar wouldbe helpful because there may be some hidden screws that if you do not remove, you can break the panel.

sounds like the anti-theft has been actuated. are you using the same key that normally has been starting the truck? Do you have another key that works? If all the keys that worked in this truck before this problem happened you should have the truck scanned for codes. See if you have any "B" codes or "U" codes.
