2006 Ford Explorer Overheated and won't start

Unread post by gregz1 » Sat Jan 12, 2013 10:31 am

I have a 2006 Ford Explorer that over heated. As soon as the dash light came on the engine died and will not start. Does this mean that the engine is toast?

It could very well mean that, yes.

If it got excessively hot, you could have warped the cylinder heads and lost compression and/or lost the rest of the internals. Usually an overheat issue is never a good thing unless you catch it before the engine gets too hot. In your case, I can't say for sure, but if it won't start back up, that's never a good sign.
