2002 GMC K 1500 front drive shaft

Unread post by jcmgmm » Sat Aug 26, 2017 8:22 am

I have a 2002 GMC K 1500 with 55,000 miles on it. Should the front drive shaft move freely when not locked into 4 wheel high. It is a push button system. I have replaces front drive shaft actuator and transfer case actuator and push button switch says it is in 2 wheel drive

does your vehicle have locking hubs? (is there a means to disengage your axle from your wheel hub)

The front axle is free. I jacked up front end of the truck and both front wheels spin free but drive shaft is locked, even with shift lever in N

ok, just by going with the information that you are giving me...

the front wheels should spin freely when the vehicle is in 2 wheel drive. they should not be connected through the differential and transfer case to the transmission. If they were then you would be in 4 wheel drive
