If you are sure that fuses and both grounds are good, all the way to the frame, then this code is either a bad connection between the ABS control module (EBCM) and the modulator valve assembly, or the EBCM or Valve assembly is bad. No relays in the system. Would need to take the assembly apart and test grounds seperately, and the wires between the 2 parts.

Cadillac Escalade air bag light Code B0040

Unread post by jc » Mon May 10, 2010 9:18 pm

My air bag light is on in my escalade, I had the truck checked with the scan tool and it said my 3rd rail bag is deployed (it is not) and it has a code of B0040 (which I am told is a bad clock spring or a loose connector in the stearing wheel . The tech said he could not turn the light off with the scan tool . That is strange two different ends of the truck and the truck has not been hit in the front,or the side or the back.. I do have a junk battery
in the truck and I plan to have it replaced it has a warranty, I read that this can give a light if the back up battery for the air bags gets low. Help.

There is no back-up battery for the airbag system. There is a backup for the onstar.
not sure why someone told you that.
There are many different components to this system. Having 1 or fail is not that uncommon.

2007 Cadillac CTS Engine Block Leaking

Unread post by John Jesmok » Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:20 pm

ENGINE BLOCK LEAKING
I own a 2007 Cadillac CTS with V-8 engine.
I had the car in for a service check today and they said they could see signs of oil leaking from the engine block.
Nothing could be done today but they actually warned me of potential problems in the future.
Mileage is 78,500.
Is there anything I can use or do to slow the leaking problem so that it doesn't cause a major engine overhaul in the future.
I have a warrenty up to 100,000 miles but it's not leaking enough now to use that and get reimbursed.
Any ideas?

These engines have gasket problems. They seem to all leak oil from everywhere. You have a GM factory 100K mile powertrain warranty that will cover this for free. Not sure what you mean by "but it's not leaking enough now to use that and get reimbursed", any leak is a leak bad enough to get fixed. There is no magic additive or anything to cure this.

1995 Eldorado Transmission Problem

Unread post by jssturza » Sun Feb 17, 2013 11:03 am

I have a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado Base Coupe. The Transmission was in limp mode, and was spitting out shift solenoid codes. I replaced the the solenoids, and added the bracket to stop the filter problem from occurring again. However, when I took it out for a test drive, it shifts from first to second good. Then when it goes to shift into third gear the Check Engine Light comes on, and it goes back into limp mode. When I first start the car up it shifts through all the gears good, but after it hits fourth gear, and goes to downshift into third, again the Check Engine Light comes on and it goes into limp mode, and give the shift solenoid codes again.

If the solenoid replacement did not fix the problem, you could have an issue in the valve body, either debris stuck in a valve, or an electronic issue. You'd really need to disassemble it further to find the problem.

It could be a wheel bearing, it could be an outer cv-joint. It could be something rubbing on the tire. it should be taken on a test drive by a mechanic to find out what the source of the noise is. it could be something else altogether but in any case it is not a situation that you want to just keep on driving. Once you get it diagnosed then you can decide if it something you can put off or get it fixed right away
