Veh shutting off
Veh shutting off
my 2015 Hyundai Veloster turbo is having a problem staying on after it sit for a min it will turn off and then will not let me turn it back on until a few mins later i have gotten a new battery to see if that was the problem and i also detached the battery after it started to see if the veh would stay running for the alternator and it stayed running for a few min then shut off it does this every time i accelerate as well
Re: Veh shutting off
ok, I understand "turn off" as a engine stall. "will not let me turn it back on" what does that mean? Does the engine crank over but won't start? The engine won't turn over in the start position?
so, first thing, starter working or not? If starter turns the engine over the battery and charging system should be okay.
In most cases, the battery that starts an engine won't be the problem. If there is enough power to start the engine once, there is more than enough power to keep it running. the starter take a lot of amps pushed by voltage to turn the engine over. It doesn't take that much power to keep it running. You shouldn't disconnect the battery with the engine running. Charging systems look for the battery voltage to know how much to charge the battery. No battery voltage sensed could cause a charging system spike that could damage components.
You may have caused codes to be stored that are not related to the problem with your stall and no restart. You need to scan for codes and then go in and clear all codes. then try and see if you still have the stall- no restart problem. If it is still there, now you scan for codes to see if there are any codes that should be specific to the problem. If no codes are stored but the problem still exists you will need to use a scanner that can show you data stream of the engine controls. Looking at the data stream while the engine won't restart will let you see if all the parameters for engine running are correct. Crank, cam, fuel, air flow, purge and vent valves, ect.
other things that could cause a stall and no restart is a shorted component. A shorted fuel injector, ignition coil, engine sensor...
Fuel pressure could also cause a problem like this. When you first turn the car on, the fuel pump turns on and primes the fuel lines then you crank the engine over and the fuel injectors shoot fuel in the engine to run. If your fuel pressure is low (too low to run) you could get fuel into the engine from the prime that will start the engine but then without enough to keep the engine running.
does your vehicle have a turn the key to start or is it push button start? Does your vehicle have a security light on? Is this a problem that happens sometimes of is this a condition that has completely disabled your car. (can't get it to stay running at all)
How is the battery in your remote?
can you give ma a step by stem description of what you do and what happens when you have this problem? or a video on youtube or something so I could actually see what is happening...
