The axle seals leaks?

Unread post by KefirGb » Tue Jan 04, 2022 2:36 pm

Hello Folks,

I do have alero 2003, V6, 95000km.

Replaced left and right front axle seals and sleeves when did the oil change the two months ago and 1000km but the new seal is staring leaking just like my old one was.

Wondering if i should replace the axle seal again, but, to be honest, How it's possible? What's the root cause?

Thanks for your advice.

How bad are they leaking? Is it seepage or do you have oil dripping off your differential making puddles? Is the seal in the correct position? Too far in or too far out. They make a seal installer to set the seal in a specific depth for the seal to ride on the axle. My note says 'seal installer j-41102 must be used to set seal depth during installation.'

can you grab on to your inner cv joint and see how much movement does it have up and down or side to side to see if there is too much movement for the seal to keep in contact with the axle? That could make it leak also.
