RAPID ACCELERATION ON ITS OWN

Unread post by gary3266 » Sat May 18, 2019 7:03 pm

I HAVE A 2002 OLDS ALERO WITH A 3800 6 CYL. ENGINE THIS CAR WILL RAPIDLY ACCELERATE ANYWHERE FROM 1500 RPM TO 4000 RPM WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE REPLACED THE TPS, THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIRED A WIRE LOOM ALL WITH LITTLE TO NO SUCCESS. IT COMES ON FAST WITHOUIT ANY WARNING. I HAVE REPLACED THE SENSORS INSIDE THE TRANNY NOW HERES THE KICKER THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT ALL. IT GOES TO THE DEALER RUNS FINE AND THEY CAN FIND NO PROBLEM. CAR RETURNS HOME AND IN 2 WEEKS TIME ITS BACK TO THE SAME THING. I AM GETTING READY TO START REPLACING SENSORS WITHOUT ANY IDEA IF THEY ARE BAD OR NOT. THE IDEA THAT THERE IS NO CODES OR LIGHTS ON DASH TELLS ME THE COMPUTER IS THINKING EVERY THING IS FINE BUT NEEDS A BOOST IN RPM. OTHER ITEMS CHECKED WERE THE MAS AIR FLOW SENSOR THE MAPP SENSOR EGR VALVE ALL THE VAC HOSES AND THE HEADLIGHTS (JUST KIDDING ) ANY ONE HAVE A CLUE OR IDEA I WOULD LOVE TO TRY IT THANK YOU

a 2002 v6 Alero should have been a 3.4L Is your model and year correct or is the engine correct?

Is your engine's throttle body electronically controlled or is it cable operated?

Like you said, there are two cables to the throttle body plate. One comes from the pedal the other one is for the cruise control. Try unplugging the cruise module and see if that stops the unintended acceleration
