Door Lock & Radio Issue (Alero)

Unread post by Snoopy48 » Mon Jul 30, 2018 12:29 pm

I just picked up this 2004 Alero with 51K miles. The car is literally like new except for these couple issues. I'm not sure if they are related or not. Everything is stock original. Here's the scenarios:

LOCKS:
Start engine, put in drive
Doors automatically lock
Stop car, put in park, kill engine
Doors will NOT unlock automatically

RADIO:
Turn key to on position or start engine
Radio plays and works perfectly
With radio "on", turn key to off position, remove key, open door
Radio still plays,
Get out of car and lock doors with remote, radio still is on.
unlock doors with remote, open and shut door(s), re-lock doors with remote,
radio then turns off.

Can someone please tell me what to check to solve these two issues? This is my sons first car and I want to make sure these issues are fixed before I turn it over to him.

Thanks
ZM

here's some programming info on your door locks:

on the radio, does the dome light work normally with the door opening?

Main headlights in my 2004 Oldsmobile Alero wont work

Unread post by Ash » Sat Aug 04, 2018 7:58 am

I have a 2004 oldsmobile Alero. We just replaced the headlights because they were fogged over. If you turn the lights on, the turn signal and the light right next to it work and the fog lights work but we dont have the use of the main headlights... Not sure what this means... Any ideas?

I don't know why your headlights would stop working just because you changed the housings. Do the daytime running lights work? Headlights are all separate from the parking and tail lights. They have a different part in the headlight switch and separate fuses and relays.

Check the headlight fuses in the underhood fuse box. Left headlight is LH HDLP (fuse 51, 15A) the right one is RH HDLP (fuse 50, 15A). They have power all the time.

there is also a relay for the headlights in the underhood fuse box. AUTO HDLP CTRL RELAY. Does the relay click when you turn the headlights on? The relay turns on the ground to the headlight circuit. If you check your wires at the headlight bulb connector the Orange wire should be battery power and dark blue is the low beam ground. the pink wire is for the high beam ground. Check the wires with the headlight unplugged. Do you have power and grounds? (when you put the low beams on and when you have the high beams on) Let me know what you find out
