When you turn the switch to different positions, do the lights change at all?

Do you hear any noises from under the truck?

When you turn the switch to different positions (auto,4x4 hi,4x4 lo,neutral,2 hi)no lights come on in that position. No shifting noise.Could it be a fuse?I checked the fuses I thought it could be and they were good.

No, it would not be a fuse. The switch should have one position lit up when you start the truck. It gets power from the transfer case control module. The module reads a change in the switch position when you turn it, and then lights up the appropriate position on the switch as it is shifting the transfer case.

Most of the time the switch IS the problem, but we have also seen several modules cause this. Even less common is the actuator in the transfer case. The problem is that without a scanner and doing some testing on these 3 components, it is really a guess. The switch is the easiest and cheapest way to go as a first step.
