The fan switch does not work at any speed. How do I take the fan switch out and can I just hot wire it?
Thanks
2006 Chevy Silverado fan speed switch
Re: 2006 Chevy Silverado fan speed switch
Most likely a burned out blower resistor.
They have a tendency to burn out, and also may burn the connector and teminals.
There is a replacement harness from the GM dealer to repair this, along with a new resistor.

That connector and harness is a little goofy to install. All the wire colors are white !MW wrote:Most likely a burned out blower resistor.

Have to make sure you get them in the right order as they are in the original connector.
Aslo, new harness is very long, so cut off about 6 inches to make it a little easier to install.
2002 Chevy Silverado fan speed problem
I have had to put two of these blower resistors is in my truck along with one wiring harness. The first time a mechanic did but I watched him so the second time I did it myself. The parts are not very expensive and it only took me about half an hour to install it. There should be a recall on this because I read a lot of other automotive forms that everyone is having problems with their blower motor on these trucks.

Re: 2006 Chevy Silverado fan speed switch
You cannot replace the fan speed switch by itslef in a 2006 Chevy Silverado .It is part of the control panel. To replace it, remove the trim and replace the control head. If it is electronic control, it would have to be programmed. Check the fuses and the silverado blower resistor connector
