Re: chevy 1991 c1500 doesn't want to idle when warm
you should hoof your truck up to a scanner and see what the computer is doing and what inputs the computer is using

temp problems
I have a 94 chevy pick up with a 5.7l and a 350hp. Shat would cause my temp to go to max when my truck is turned off?
Re: temp problems
does it go up to the top even if the engine is cold? as in you turn the key on first thing in the morning but haven't started the truck engine yet but the gauge shows hot on a stone cold engine? if that's the case I would look at the temp sender and unplug in at the sender. If the gauge drop all the way down, you need to try a new sender. If it still goes at the top look for a shorted wire or bad circuit to /or inside the dash unit
if it reads hot because the engine is hot, look for reasons why the engine is overheating

98 Chevy Silverado 1500 oil gauge misreading
My husband has a 1998 Chevy Silverado 4x4 5.7 vortec. He recently had to replace his crank shaft censor that solved his issue of not cranking. Now, and even before, his oil gauge will jump from 0 to 40 back to 0 and repeat over and over and check gauges light will come on. This mainly happens when the truck is idling and pushing the accelerator usual jumps the oil gauge back up. When we check his oil, it's fine. There is also a knock in the bottom end of his engine mainly when the clutch is pushed down or when accelerating. Once he gets out of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears it doesn't do it as badly. We have been told by a mechanic that the bottom end of his engine is about to go out, but the mechanic said he would be losing oil, which he's not. We just purchased this truck 2.5 weeks ago and have already paid $120 to have censor replaced. We really don't have the money for a new engine or crank kit that was recommended by mechanic. Also, the mechanic only listened to the truck running! Didn't drive it or look under the truck or hood. Anyone have any ideas?? Please help!?!? Thanks in advance :)
