2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
I have a 2000 chevy silverado and i did an engine swap from a 4.3L motor to a 5.3L. But the engine i installed its from a chevy 2004 and bu the time i was finished with my truck, i noticed that the gauges weren't working. I turned my truck on and none of the gauges weren't working not even the RPM. So i connected my computer scanner to see wat it was and as soon i plug my scanner on the PED connection, the gauges started working and i disconnect the scanner and it stopped working. I already cheked all the ground wires and i doubled check if i had missed a harness connection but everything was connected fine.. I already have like 3 weeks and i cant find a solution to fix the gauges.

sounds like you might have a problem with the bus. the scanner added to the system smooths out or provides the bus signal. or the scanner could be providing voltage to the system.
check your fuses. the left side of your dash has fuses. check these fuses:
cruise fuse 10A
ignition 0 fuse 10A
ignition 1 fuse 10A
radio fuse 10A
see is any are blown or do not have power with the key on. (radio should be power all the time)

I already cheked them and i noticed right now that some have empty slots and theres current on those empty fuses slots and like 2 or more fuses dont have power.

Wat im thinking is that i have to relocate the wires from the back of the fuse block to the possition were it has power. But i have a feeling that i can burn the computer. Or doesnt?
Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
wait, why would you want to relocate wires?

Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
Because fuses have no power
Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
which fuses have no power. if they don't have power you should find out why. if you start relocating wires no one else will ever know how to work on your truck. Tell me which fuses have no power and I can see if I can find out where they are supposed to get their power from.

On the fuse ignition 3 it has current but it has no fuse jst an empty slot i dont know why is like that
Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
I show that ign3 is for rear wheel steering control module. so your truck probably doesn't have that.
Some fuses won't have power or ground because the items they control may not be powered up.
