4l80e question

Unread post by vinnyz420 » Mon Jul 19, 2010 12:54 pm

I have a 1992 chevy 2500 with the 1 ton tow package equipped with a 4l80e. I have replaced the tranny 3 times and it is starting to slip again. Can anyone tell me if there is a conversion kit to replace it with a manual. Please help before I yank the motor and scrap the rest.

A trip to your local junkyard should get you all the parts to put a manual trans in it but before you do that think about when you changed all those transmissions. Did you ever once clean out the tranny cooler?

Quite often people overlook this step. When you trans self destructs the fiber dust and such can cause a partial blockage in the tranny cooler. This results in the next trans going to H E double hockey sticks in a hurry as well.

My advice keep the auto and next time change the trans cooler/radiator and maybe even install some additional cooling for it.
