Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
I installed the motor, the pcm, the gas pedal and the TAC module but the fuse box from the 2004 it didnt work because the horn would stay on and i had to take out the horn fuse so it could turn off and i also smelled burn inside my truck and i cheked the left side dash and cheked every fuse, i took out the panel cluster and everything seem good. Right now i have the fuse box that i had on the V6 and my kuzin and i we relocated the wires under the fuse box with the same positions as the 2004 and till now the truck runs good and i dont smell burn inside the truck nomore.

Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
At first i thought it was the instrument cluster that stopped working so i tested another instrument cluster from another truck with the same year and it stayed the same and then i tested another instrument cluster from a 2005 and it didnt work..
Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
the clusters from different years are different on how they get the information. what year is your engine and pcm and what year is your dash? have you tried using a dash that is the same year as your pcm?

They are both 2004 and the dash is 2000.. And yea i already tried it with a 2004 dash
Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
there are many things that are different between the 2000 and the 2004 dash's. the 2004 dash would work if you had a 2004 wire harness. here are some examples of things that are different.
connector A: wire 1, 2000=tan/wht goes to oil pressure sensor 2004=brown/white goes to MIL contrl
wire 2, 2000=white goes to pcm for tach 2004=dkBlu goes to diesel wait to start light
wire 3, 2000=dkgrn/wht goes to jct block for radio, cruise, bcm, pcm, suspension 2004 blk/wht goes to washer fluid level switch
and on and on.

Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
So all i need is to get the wire harness and the gauges from 2004?
Re: 2004 chevy silverado gauges not working
I would like to say yes that's all you would need but things don't always go perfectly. I would say that would be the place to start and see what happens
