1995 Chevy S-10 Blazer Idles Rough
my blazer runs great going down the road. at idle it can get rough, and go dead at times. could this be just a carbon issue ??
Re: 95 S10 Blazer
Yes, this can be a throttle carbon problem. It is the cause of many idle and starting concerns. If no check engine light, then i would clean the carbon first.

2001 Chevy Blazer: Won't Start
My truck won't start. Sounds like it wants to, it just won't turn over. My husband just replaced the alternator, the battery and starter are fine, and I just filled up the gas tank yesterday. It got left outside the garage overnight last night and now it won't turn over. A friend said that it might be the an electrical problem in the fuel injectors, but we don't know how to begin to diagnose that and make sure that's the problem. I need to know: What are the possibilities for the problem? How do we diagnose the problem? Does it sound like something we can fix ourselves?
Re: 2001 Chevy Blazer: Won't Start
You say the truck won't start but it sounds it wants to it just won't turn over. If the engine is not cranking then you'll need to test the purple wire at the starter while you are turning the ignition. That purple wire should get hot when trying to crank the engine. Somebody said it might be fuel injectors, so do you mean the engine is cranking but just won't start. If that is the case then you would need to test for proper fuel pressure. Bad fuel pumps are pretty common on this truck. One way to test this is have someone crank the engine while someone else bangs on the bottom center of the fuel tank under the truck. This will sometimes free up a sticking pump. It may run and then die out or it may keep running but at least you know the fuel pump is bad. Remember, and engine that won't turnover means you turn the key and nothing happens, it doesn't crank or do anything. If this is the case then you will need to test that starter as stated above. If no power there you might have a neutral safety switch bad or a faulty ignition switch.

I have a 99 Chevy Blazer that has had the starter replaced 6 times within the last month. What could possibly be the problem?
Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer starter
What was the original problem exactly? Was it just not cranking over, making noise, etc.
Are these new starters for your Blazer from the same maker? GM factory part or national parts store chain?

Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer starter
Well we bought this 99 blazer and it needed a motor. I had a 2000 S10 with a broken frame so I transfered the motor. Then the starter went bad. So I went to autozone and purchased a lifetime warranteed started that lasted 2 days. Next the motor broke where the started connected so I purchased an 03 motor with 57000 miles on it and the started problem persists. I have changed the started 6 times in the last week. I took the original started and had it rebuilt twice and exchanged the other one 4 times. I'm at my wits end. It will start once with each starter change but it takes forever to start and then it burns the starter out.
Re: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer starter
The only things I have ever seen causing multiple start failures is a bad crank sensor. Sometimes when they go bad, the engine will kick back and can actually break the starter nose off, of just cause it to not crank anymore. The other is cheaply made parts. But, with so many, I would not think that is the case.
At the end of your post you said that it takes forever to start, then the starter burns out. If this is the case with each engine- that it cranks and cranks and cranks, then I would be looking at a bad fuel pump with low pressure. But, even a decent starter should be able take multiple extended crankings without burning out.

code P0106 Blazer ENGINE RUNNING HEAVY
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON - CODE P0106 ENGINE RUNNING HEAVY AND STALLS WHILE IDLE REPLACED MAP SENSOR CLEANED THROTTLE BODY WHAT ELSE COULD BE WRONG
Re: code P0106 Blazer ENGINE RUNNING HEAVY
what year and I guess a 4.3L?
Vehicle is stock? no BS filters, chips, spacers.
no other codes- any?
Engine is reaching temp @195F?
This code is a rationality check for the mass air flow (MAF), manifold absolute pressure (MAP), and the throttle position (TP) sensors.
Do you have a scanner that sees live data?
If not - check for an air leak after the MAF, be sure the MAP has a good vacuum seal.

showing O2, MassAirflow Sensors and Cat. Conv. Problems
I have been having problems with my 2002 Chevy Blazer for quit awhile now. Last Summer when the weather got hot, I would loose propulsion power. The Blazer would all of a sudden stop running at any speed. I would pull over to the side of the rode, restart it and continue on. The warmer the air was the more problems. Took to shop and they said it was the main computer board. I limped it back home because of the cost of the board. As the weather cooled off, it ran fine.
Then again I have similar problems. This time the rpm's would reeve up but I couldn't get it to go as fast as I know the rpm's would make it. So I took it back to the mechanic. This time they replaced the Mass Flow Sensor. It ran for about a week and again same problem but worse.
I don't remember what exactly they did (receipt in glove box at shop) the second time. But the check engine went off until I was a couple of miles down the road. However, it definitely ran better. Lasted 3 days.
Now, there's no way to go above 35. If there is any type of uphill slop, It would become worse and speed would go down to about 15 while the rpm's are at 3500. Today I found that if I would release the gas (as if driving a manual trans) I could get it to shift gears and speed up. This especially worked on flat or downhill slopes which is how I got up to 35mph. I had tried this before, to no avail.
This time the person working on it (same shop) told me that it's the catalytic converter. I called back to speak with the owner and asked for all codes because the check engine light has never went out since I've been taking it there. The owner said it was the O2 and mass flow sensors as well as the catalytic converter.
#1 - I was also told that the Blazer had 3 catalytic convertors. Is this correct?
#2 - I'm tired of getting strung along. Can you please give me some suggestions as to what is really wrong? I don't want to swap anymore parts. I'm going to sell it and just get it running better.
Thanks for any advice

Re: showing O2, MassAirflow Sensors and Cat. Conv. Problems
did you ask for the shop to write all the codes on your invoice? you should always ask that the codes that they scanned be written down on your paper work. this way you can always go to another shop and ask about the codes. My shop always gives the customer a print out of all the codes that come up. Hard codes, pending codes and sometimes the mode 6 information that relates to a specific problem like misfires that have not set a code yet but the customer can feel while driving.
don't ask what the codes were for, ask what the code numbers are.
Plugged cat. can affect driveability, the mass air flow sensor and slow the vehicle down at times.
