Unread post by glenn » Wed Jul 14, 2010 4:55 pm

1995 w/ 3800 engine. stalled out on me 2 days in a row and wouldn't start....towed home. replaced 3 of 3 relays under the hood (spliced new ones in because i thought the wires were kinda old and 18ga. gets brittle after 15 years) pulled fuel pump out and it tests fine. Any other suggestions?

Would need to know what is missing when it stalls- Spark, fuel pressure, injector pulsing.
A few common things on this engine is...
1. the crank shaft position sensor. It is located behind the crank pulley. If it were bad, you would not have spark or fuel injector pulse.
2. Ignition control module. There would be a loss of spark only.
4. Fuel pump or ground wire problem for the fuel pump. This would cause low / no fuel pressure.

When you turn the key the fuel pump doesn't prime. Because the pump tested fine I believe something electrical.

Turn the key to and listen under the hiid for the fuel pump relay to click. I believe it is on the dr. side stru tower, mayube under a cap or cover. If you hear a click, test for power at fuel pump connector. Be sure all fuses are good.
