2002 Montana makes ticking noise.
Pontiac Montana 3400 Timing Off
ok i just replaced the head and intake gaskets on my 98 montana 3400 engine . now it wont start it acts like it is out of time but when you hold the gas pedal down and it turns over normal but not starting HELP
Re: montana 3400
Sounds like the pushrods are in the wrong position. Intake rods are short, exhaust are long.
2002 Montana makes ticking noise.
I have a ticking noise coming from the steering column of my 2002 Montana, often when on a bumpy road, and when making a right hand turn. A mechanic friend took a look and said it was the actuator, part number 26097679. It was replaced but the problem still exists. The actuator is physically positioned on the steering column, and that device is what is making the ticking noise. Not sure what it does. It appears to be a symptom, not the cause. Can someone advise me.
Re: 2002 Montana makes ticking noise.
If the sound also occurs when braking and truning at the same time, this sounds like the intermediate shaft is making the noise. This is a common problem of this and many other GM models.
P0304, #4cyl low compression
2002 Montana 3.4
It started a week ago I was Idleing at a coffee shop when it started running rough. Checked spark-good,chkd fuel - good, compression in #4 is 30 lbs. I am not having any coolant issues ie;leaking or mixing with oil, blows good heat. I had a head gasket job done a year ago.

Re: P0304, #4cyl low compression
This may be the common problem, especially after intake gaskets replaced. A rocker arm bolt may have pulled the treads out of the head and now the rocker is not fiunctioning. This will cause a misfire, can cause low compression or even engine noise.
You will need to remove the valve cover to check for that. If this is the case, it may have also bent a pushrod.
