06 HHR Hard shift from park Into drive or reverse

I've got a 2006 hhr and recently it has developed a hard jerk when dropped into drive to pull out or if I shit from park into reverse it has the same hard jerk. Even backing out a parking space and from reverse to drive to. All driving habits are the same, no change in where I buy fuel. I don't have access to code reader or I could pull them and see where they point. First opportunity to hit the neighbourhood parts house I can have them pull the codes but I live way out in the sticks and our nearest "neighbourhood" parts house is 30-45 minute drive. Sorry so lengthy but trying to give asuch info as possible so that you may have a diagnosis for whatever ailment our beloved HHR may have. Thank you in advance for any and all info you may have.
