windshield rattles

Unread post by vbs52 » Sat Feb 16, 2013 9:43 am

have Chevy Malibu 05, had front windshield replaced, and now have a rattle down at the bottom. The man who replaced it came and took it off and put it back on. Still rattles. Why? Suggestions on how to get rid of noise.

If it didn't rattle before, it's obviously something the guy who replaced the windshield did. Either a trim piece came loose, or something around the cowl area is rattling. Try banging around on the glass to locate the area of the rattle and point it out to him. Should be an easy find and fix! Otherwise, you'll just have to deal with the noise.

your fuel pump wire harness has two wires that power up your fuel pump. the gray wire is the power from the fuel pump relay and the black wire is for the ground. You need to verify that you are getting a good power signal and ground signal. if you connect the two wires to a test light then you could see if the test light lights up when the fuel pump should come on. You can check to see if the relay in the underhood fuse box is clicking to turn on the pump.

check the fuel pump fuse #2 a 15A fuse. the relay appears to be made into the fuse box because the wiring diagram does not show connector pins but verify that by looking at you owners manual for the fuses and relays and see, if it shows the fuel pump relay location and then if it is available, the relay is working. The ground for the relay is the ground stud at the engine to transmission bolts. Power to activate the relay comes from the computer.
