overheating 1997 Chevy Venture Van

i have a 1997 chevy venture van it starts to over heat the gauges go to red then the fans tunr on and gauges go back down . it has no leaks and the oil is fine.

The Venture vans are known for head gasket problems and/or intake gasket problems. From what you describe, it sounds more like a head gasket issue. If the gasket is blown near a cylinder, compression gets pumped into the cooling system causing an air pocket and an overheating condition. The fans can remedy this for a little while, but it will only get worse. Usually this will not show any signs in the oil, or leak externally. You can try a leakdown test if you have the proper equipment and that will tell you for sure what it is.

Unless you're experienced with this type of problem, it may be best to take it to a shop.
