Unread post by oluyori » Fri Mar 01, 2013 5:15 am

Dear All,

My chevrolet venture 2003 shut down on motion. I have changed the fuel pump, engine oil and spark plug. Yet the engine will shut down after some minutes of driving on the way. Once I crank the engine it start moving again. Please what can cause this fault?

OK. If you are describing the engine in your Venture van will stall, but start right up when you crank it over, then there are several things that can cause this. What needs to be done is find out what is missing to cause it to stall. Meaning, you need to find out if the engine is loosing spark, fuel injector pulse, both or loosing fuel pressure.

You could have a failing crank position sensor, or the wiring harness to it has rubbed through on the crank pulley.

The ignition switch in the steering column coud be going bad.

The ignition control module could be bad.

You could have a poor connection at the under body main wiring harness. That is located right behind the drivers seat under the van. Uplug it and look for corrosion.
