Ticking Noise In 2008 Chevy Malibu Engine

Unread post by Bryant » Thu Jan 10, 2013 5:27 pm

2008 Chevy Malibu 3.6L oil and check engine light, oil pump replaced, the local dealer replaced the oil pump and after putting back together they still had a noise. They are saying that they think the timing chain has jumped a tooth or two. Could this cause any other problems down the road, like a valve hitting a piston and bending it? Should I be worried about anything?

Absolutely you should be worried! Obviously they didn't get the car fixed and should still take care of it for you. The timing chains are known to stretch and can cause noise and further engine damage.

I would highly recommend getting it back to the dealer so they can take it back apart and find the problem and fix it!
