malfunction indictor lamp is on in my chevy malibu

My right-side highbeam and side marker light won't work. Checked fuses, replaced bulbs, dont know what else to check. Have to get a new inspection soon. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You could have a problem with the wiring harness inside the headlight assembly, or the wiring going to the headlight. Check the connector for any corrosion or bad terminals, make absolutely sure the bulbs are good, and go from there. It may end up needing an entire headlight assembly.

I have a 98 malibu and had a problem with the side marker light. I found some corrosion in the bulb socket itself and after cleaning needed to insert a pin to pull 'off the side' of the socket casing the metal contacts themselves. I dont think its related with you head ight but go over the bulb seating and contact there too in a similar fashion.

Boy, you sure give a ton of information to go off, huh? How about getting the car scanned to see WHY the malfunction indicator light is on? If you expect someone to guess over the internet, you're in trouble.
