3.1L V6 Chevy overheat issue

Unread post by snood » Thu Apr 08, 2010 3:48 pm

had a CO2 test that came back positive - this after changing thermostate, heat sensor, water pump and radiator flush and new radiator cap. Had the intake manifold changed/replaced about 3 years ago. Does some one feel that the entire engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced or does some one feel that perhaps re-doing the intake over.

With a positive on that test, either you have a headgasket problem or the intake is leaking again.
Inspect the rear spark plugs to see if any signs of burning coolant.

interesting - when i changed plugs and wires this summer as a result of missing out, i notice that one of the wires were fried on the back side, and since i replaced the wires the missing out issue disappeared. I'll double check the back and see if there is any indication as such. I havne't noticed any leakage like the last time, however when I rev up the engine the top hose colapses. Thanks, I'll let you know.
