You need to scan for codes but common problems are bad wheel speed sensor and wire breakage to the wheel speed sensor.

2008 Pontiac Grand Prix DIC Screen

Unread post by mjka50 » Mon Jan 20, 2014 6:22 pm

On my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, I removed factory stereo for a aftermarket cd player and now the date does not stay in (turns to dashes after 20 to 30 seconds) in the DIC screen on the dash. All other DIC info such as tire pressure and alerts etc works fine. Any idea's anyone? I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but it remains the same.

i've replaced about 5 or 6 wheel bearings bc of the speed sensors. I would definately guess this is the problem and make sure you get a good brand like moog not the cheap advance or autozone version.

EBCM Swap

I have a bad EBCM on my 2001 Grand Prix GTP.
I have read that you can not simply replace it with one from the junk yard. However. I have found one with matching options and such. Example: GTP, stereo, heads up display etc etc.
My question is can I damage the master brake cylinder if they are not programmed the same?
Is it worth the risk?
It is from the same year, only difference is body paint and interior color.
$200 to send it off to be reprogrammed.

pretty sure that since obd2 that the vin number is programmed into the pcm. Some times it won't make a difference but most of the time the different modules will set a code that says the wrong vin number. Reprogramming can reset the vin number issue.
