GRAND PRIX SOLENOID JUMP
GRAND PRIX SOLENOID JUMP
CAN YOU JUMP THE SOLENOID ON A 2005 PONTIAC GRNAD PRIX, NUETRAL SAFETY SWITCH IS OUT AND WONT CRANK. THE SWITCH IS INTERNAL AND GOING TO COST MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH
Re: GRAND PRIX SOLENOID JUMP
did you scan the trans and see that the neutral safety switch was not getting the correct signal to the PCM? (pins 15, 22, 23, 34 on connector C3? pin 73 connector C2)
If the neutral safety switch is not sending the correct signal to tell the pcm it is in park or neutral, will it send the signal that it is in drive or reverse?
Have you checked the CRANK relay in the underhood fuse box to see if it is getting all the correct signals to connect the starter solenoid? Check the IGN1 relay? Check the PCM fuse (10A) inthe underhood fuse box? (controlled by the BCM)
because the starter system has a bunch of different systems tied together before it will start the car I don't know if it will let you bypass them all and start the engine. You can bypass them all and jump the starter solenoid and get the car to crank over but it is possible that it may still not start the engine. You can try but make sure you have someone in the drivers seat with their foot on the brake just in case it does start up and the vehicle thinks it's in drive or reverse and takes off on start up.
just be safe ;)
