2005 Grand Prix Check Engine Light
2005 Grand Prix Check Engine Light
I have a 2005 Grand prix gt. The check engine light had come on and the on board computer screen said "check gas cap" So I replaced the gas cap with a locking one. The light and message went away. Then it came back on with the same message a couple days ago after. The car runs good, maybe burning a bit more gas. What could be the problem any ideas?
Re: 2005 Grand Prix Check Engine Light
That warning about the gas cap can also be caused by a large leak in the Evap emission system. A large leak can be interpreted as aloose gas cap.
There is no sensor for the cap or anyhting lke that.
Need to have the system scanned for codes. will probably get a code P0455.

Re: 205 Grand Prix Check Engine Light
Large EVAP leak usually caused by a faulty Vent Solenoid in the drivers side rear wheel house.
